March in Berlin – Fufanu | Lord Pusswhip | Vök

After all that shitty weather at the beginning of the year in Berlin it’s finally worth it to crawl out of your shack: some mind blowing Icelandic artists will perform in Musik & Frieden club in March!

Starting with Vök on 3rd of March. Vök is Margrét Run (vocals, guitar, keys), Andrea Már (saxophone, synthies), Ólafur Alexander (guitar, bass guitar) and Einar Stef /Jón Valur (drums). If you attended Airwaves 15 or last week’s Sónar Reykjavík festival you might have already enjoyed this band which published two EPs so far, named “Circles” and “Tension”. Moreover they are working on their first full length album right now. The upcoming weeks they’ll be on tour around Europe which also includes three gigs in Germany in March. Their sometimes dreamy, sometimes emotional sound is based on great electronic beats and a saxophone from time to time. Check out “Before”, “Waterfall”, “If I was”.

Next date to mark in your calendar is March 13th which will be the day Kaktus Einarsson and Guðlaugur Einarsson, also known as Fufanu return to Berlin. When their laptop with their yet unreleased techno album was stolen, they decided not to start the same thing againg but to try out other sounds. The outcome was the album Few More Days To Go, which was released in November 2015 on One Little Indian Records. After some support acts for different artists like John Grant or Vaccines, Fufanu finally come back to Berlin. Listen to: “Circus Life”, “Now”, “Ballerina in the Rain”.

Two days later on March 15th Noisey Nights take place, again in Musik & Frieden club. It will be all about Rap (finally!), tight beats (hell yeah) and a bunch of badass artists of the Live from Earth collective, amongst others Tightill, Countess Malaise and Lord Pusswhip. The latter of whom recently not only made a remix of Your Collection by Fufanu but also works together with a number of other Icelandic artists (Dj. flugvél og geimskip, GKR, Vaginaboys,…) and as a producer for some international artists. Lord Pusswhips’ sound is mystical, hypnotical, sometimes like from a horror movie or when you’re stoned. But it’s always pleasing and makes you push repeat. Try “Operatic” (Co. – prod. Marteinn), “Endurminning” ft. Lauren Auder, “Róland-Nóta” (Lord Pusswhip & Mælginn).

Maybe...
